Urban Plunge Tech Showcase 2023

Sydney Water’s Urban Plunge Tech Showcase 2023 is all about enhancing waterway health.

You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the latest ideas and advancements around improving waterway health, with pioneering companies showcasing cutting edge technologies, on the land and in the water.

What is on offer

Our exhibitors will be providing in-person demonstrations of their products and interactive displays. The drone demo will be 10am, 11am and noon.

Atlan Floating wetland – these attractive modular floating wetlands filter nutrients and contaminants from the water, and provide habitat for turtles and birds.

Jellyfish bot – a remotely controlled or autonomous bot that collects rubbish, oil and other hydrocarbons from the water, it can use sonar for bathymetry surveys.

Living seawalls – these panels are part ecology and part beautiful engineering design, providing beneficial habitat for marine life on seawalls, break walls and other concrete structures.

Ocean Guard pit litter baskets – the new pits provide the same performance as normal gully pit baskets, but include new features, manufactured using 90% plastic waste.

Seabin – an Australian made trash collecting device, but that’s not all, Seabin are committed to capturing useful data on the type and volume of contaminants in our waterways.

Stratavault – provide below ground structural support for street tree plantings in urban areas, they can also include monitoring probes to alert you when the trees need water.

Sydney Water lab services – our labs specialise in a wide range of services, our dedicated field staff are backed up by a NATA accredited lab with expertise in microbial source tracking and eDNA.

Sydney Water remotely piloted aircraft – we are trialling drones to help us monitor water quality in hard to reach places, but the range of uses and benefits of our fleet of drones is only just being realised!

The Smarter Cleaner Sydney Harbour Pilot – this pilot partnership program applies AI enabled cameras, and sensors in gross pollutant traps to reduce stormwater pollution entering the Harbour.

Transport for NSW – their Environmental Services crew service the harbour and its tributaries 7 days a week, removing navigation hazards and rubbish. Come and explore their custom made boat moored in front of the venue.

 

Getting there

There is limited free on-street all day parking and timed parking available. The area is well serviced with public buses and Rhodes train station.
