Championing Smarter Water Solutions
Stormwater NSW provides an active, unified voice for our members to advance the sustainable management of stormwater across New South Wales.
KEY FOCUS AREAS OF THE ADVOCACY COMMITTEE
1. Responses to Enquiries and Reports
- Preparing formal submissions to government enquiries, inquiries, and regulatory reviews.
- Issuing letters of support for strategic water initiatives and policies aligned with industry best practice.
2. Policy and Position Statements
- Developing and publishing evidence-based position statements.
- Proactively promoting Stormwater NSW policy positions to stakeholders, regulators, and the public.
3. Initiatives and Industry Delivery
- Updating the industry Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manual.
- Leading the O&M Maintenance Program Development, including the SQID (Stormwater Quality Improvement Device) program.
- Advocating for Local Government stormwater management service charge and funding levy reforms.
4. Advocacy Program and Ministerial Engagement
- Conducting direct briefings with Ministers and Shadow Ministers for Water and the Environment.
- Coordinating targeted advocacy campaigns and priorities for NSW State Elections.

Stormwater NSW provides a voice for its members on key stormwater issues. Stormwater NSW advocates for the sustainable management of stormwater and provides written submissions when stormwater related policy documents are released for comment.
