The Parramatta River Catchment Group’s new Stormwater Compliance and Education role is currently being advertised. Although the position is hosted by City of Canada Bay, the role will cover the Parramatta River catchment, working with an established group of Council and agency stormwater managers. It is open till the 15th October with a pretty competitive salary range ($97,595.28 to $112,234.57 + Super).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stormwater Education:
    • Develop and implement educational programs and materials to raise awareness about stormwater pollution and its impact on our local environment.
    • Organise workshops, seminars, and community events to educate residents, businesses, and local organisations on stormwater management best practices.
    • Collaborate with schools and educational institutions to integrate stormwater education into their curriculum.
  2. Compliance Monitoring:
    • Conduct regular inspections of stormwater systems and construction sites to ensure compliance with local regulations and permits.
    • Investigate and address complaints related to stormwater violations promptly and professionally.
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions.
  3. Environmental Outreach:
    • Work closely with community groups, environmental organisations, and local businesses to promote responsible stormwater management.
    • Provide technical assistance and guidance to residents and businesses on stormwater mitigation measures.
    • Participate in environmental restoration and conservation initiatives in collaboration with other government agencies and stakeholders.
  4. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect and analyse data related to stormwater quality, runoff, and pollution sources.
    • Prepare reports and recommendations based on data analysis to improve stormwater management practices.
    • Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and innovation.

Qualifications:

We seek individuals who have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of local and federal stormwater regulations and best management practices.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for educational outreach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for site visits.
