MANUAL & WORKSHOPS

ABOUT THE MANUAL

Stormwater NSW Guidelines for Maintenance of Stormwater Treatment Measures, aka the ‘Yellow Book’

Stormwater quality improvement measures are an essential component of our stormwater infrastructure to protect environmental, recreational and economic values of our waterways.

The Guidelines will assist Asset Managers to plan, tender and implement routine maintenance for stormwater treatment measures.

It will also provide guidance to Cleaning Contractors on how to maintain each type of stormwater treatment measure. Concise explanations of maintenance tasks for each stormwater measure are provided.

The manual can be purchased as a standalone document or can be purchased in conjunction with the full-day training workshops.

To purchase the manual or register for a workshop, please contact admin@stormwaternsw.asn.au

Workshop Overview

The workshop is aimed at Maintenance Managers and Cleaning Contractors, as well as Council staff involved in the sizing, siting and approval of stormwater treatment measures.  This is a new course developed by Stormwater NSW.

The workshop focuses on the new O & M Guidelines, produced by Stormwater NSW, that will become the industry standard and reference document for the Maintenance of Stormwater assets.

The Training Covers:

  • The origin and evolution of these new Guidelines
  • Some of the standard terms that everyone need to know
  • Explanation of the format and contents of the Guideline
  • How Councils and How Cleaning Contractors will use these Guidelines
  • Planning and budgeting for Maintenance – what Councils need to know
  • Monitoring of devices – tools, Data Sheets, Cleaning Specs, practical field demonstration & explanation
  • Regular Cleaning and Comprehensive Cleaning – measure by measure
  • Dewatering & Decanting, new devices, Reporting format and content
  • Rectifications, auditing, upgrades & decommissioning
  • Tricks of the trade (so everyone gets a better outcome)
  • One Page Cleaning Specs for all proprietary treatment measures
  • Questions and Answers for everything stormwater

This popular training exposes the myths and problems of the past, and presents a logical and practical way to get the best from Stormwater Treatment Devices.  Whilst not aimed at consultants and DA engineers, it certainly contains a lot of very helpful content in the selection, sizing and siting of devices for long term reliable solutions.
A copy of the Guidelines will be provided for all attendees.

The presenter for this workshop will be Murray Powell, who is secretary of Stormwater NSW, one of the document authors and General Manager of Optimal Stormwater who are one of the leaders in design/construction/auditing/rectification of stormwater treatment devices.

Spaces are limited at these workshops.
