Young Professional Of the Year 2022 – Winner
Daniel Rider
Blacktown City Council
One of our leading councils has taken on a challenge that has not been tackled before. Council took on a young science graduate and invited them to the party and invited them to step up. And step up they did!
The result was an Australian first. Our YP of the Year put themself into the shoes of council’s customers and made a complicated job simple. They provided clear instructions and thousands of customers have responded by providing the right information in the right form to get a great outcome. I speak of course about the Blacktown Council Private WSUD Compliance Program.
For a young man that graduated in 2018 he has come far. He has taken on virgin ground and developed and delivered in spades. He has been central in the development of the WSUD Compliance Program Manual as well as developing the architecture for software to streamline the collection of field data and integration of that into council processes. Further, he has actively promoted the program across the country delivering presentations and papers at leading industry forums. And by all accounts these presentations have been well received. A fantastic effort.
